Home >Glasgow Guide > There are numerous Hotels in Glasgow. Here is a list of many you may want to consider as well as a profile of Glasgow, listing things to do and see! City Center Glasgow hotels
Glasgow profileGlasgow is a great city for night life and is one of the liveliest destinations in the UK. Airports servicing the city include Glasgow airport and Prestwick airport and tickets are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. The city is stylish and has many Art collections and has many buildings and influences of the famous Architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You can see some of his work in the House for an Art Lover in Bellahoustoun park in glasgow.Victorian ArchitectureThe West End has many lovely examples of architecture and has many Victorian era properties. When walking around Glasgow you should be sure to look up to see many of the beautiful buildings above street level.ShoppingShopping is very popular, and the city caters for this well with centres such as Princess Square, Buchanan galleries, The Italian centre and on the outskirts of town, Braehead. There are many theatres, cinemas and restaurants throughout Glasgow and some of my personal favorite areas includes Bath Street. Bars such as Saint Judes, Mosquito, China White Club on Bath Street, are all popular. A very famous, drinkers bar to try is the horseshoe bar near Central Station on Drury Lane. It has the longest bar in Glasgow, and is a true drinking bar (so don't take the upmarket girlfriend, unless she's a student) with pints for £1.50. That's cheap. They also have serious Karaoke upstairs for budding pop stars. Across the road is Truffles, one of the cities lap dancing clubs. <> Corinthians in the Merchant city is a must see, due to the fabulous old court room building it is located in. Another great place to see is Arta, which is very impressive features a number of different rooms and bars, including the lively bar at the bottom where some really good cover bands play. It is often open to 3 am. Also, off Byres Road in the West End, there are many great places to be found e.g. on the quaint and charming Ashton Lane, there are loads of bars and restaurants. The Scottish Exhibition and Conference centre is a very short taxi drive away from the middle of the City and there are many concerts and business events, such as the Ideal Homes Exhibition. Business people on the move quickly become regular visitors to many hotels around the area and business travel in Scotland so often includes stay in Glasgow which provides the best entertainment at great value prices which will please most budgets. With all this to do, I would recommend booking a weekend in Glasgow. If your a city lover, It's got so much for everyone. |
